🛵 Uncover Vietnam's History: Must-See Coin Exhibition Opens in Saigon

HO CHI MINH CITY – For the first time ever, over 1,500 rare artifacts of Vietnamese currency are on display in Ho Chi Minh City, offering a unique lens into the nation’s turbulent and triumphant past, from the French colonial era to modern integration.

The exhibition, titled "Vietnamese Currency – A Journey Through the Nation’s Historical Flow," officially opened on the morning of November 22nd at the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Branch in District 1 (Bến Thành Ward). This landmark event, organized by the SBV, showcases pivotal currency items deeply connected to Vietnam's development phases.

A Historical Flow in Four Chapters

The collection spans from 1875 to the present day and is divided into four main chronological themes, acting as a vivid timeline for visitors:

  1. Indochinese Currency (Tiền Đông Dương)

  2. "Uncle Ho’s Banknotes" (Giấy bạc "Cụ Hồ") and Financial Notes (1945 – 1954), detailing the resistance era.

  3. National Bank of Vietnam Currency (1951 – 1975).

  4. State Bank of Vietnam Currency (1975 – present), including the first unified currency set from 1978 and modern Polymer notes.

Each banknote, coin, and even rationing coupon acts as a "living witness," reflecting the political, economic, and cultural context of its time. The exhibition is a powerful way to understand how the nation struggled, fought, and ultimately reunified and developed.
