People’s Procuracy of District 6 Organises a "Return to the Roots" Trip to the “Historical Site of the Tomb and Temple of Mr Phạm Văn Chí” and the “Historical Site of the Secret Base of the S

In accordance with Plan No. 01-KH/BTGQU issued by the Propaganda Department of the District 6 Party Committee, on 5 November 2024, the Party Cell in coordination with the Youth Union of the People’s Procuracy of District 6 organised a “Return to the Roots” trip – visiting historical sites in District 6, including the “Historical Site of the Tomb and Temple of Mr Phạm Văn Chí” located at 703 Phạm Văn Chí Street, Ward 7, District 6 and the “Historical Site of the Secret Base of the Sài Gòn - Gia Định City Party Committee” at 91 Phạm Văn Chí Street, Ward 1, District 6.

At the first location, the delegation offered incense and expressed their reverence at the Tomb and Temple of Mr Phạm Văn Chí. Born in Bình Đông Village (Chợ Lớn), Mr Phạm Văn Chí was originally a village official. When French forces invaded southern Vietnam, he heroically sacrificed his life and left behind a legacy of honour. In recognition of his contributions, on 10 October 2008, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued Decision No. 4301/QĐ-UBND, classifying the Tomb and Temple of Mr Phạm Văn Chí as a city-level historical site.

During their visit, Party members and Youth Union members of the District 6 People’s Procuracy learned about Mr Phạm Văn Chí’s life, revolutionary career, and heroic sacrifice for the people and the nation. The trip not only commemorated a figure who resisted French colonialism but also instilled admiration for the indomitable spirit of the southern Vietnamese people, who stood firm against the invaders from the very start.

Continuing their journey, the delegation visited the historical site of the secret base of the Sài Gòn - Gia Định City Party Committee. This site was one of the covert locations equipped with secret tunnels, communications systems, and armed self-defence means to conceal and safeguard revolutionary cadres during the resistance war to liberate the South and reunify the country.

To promote the value of educating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, and loyalty to the Party among the Hoa (ethnic Chinese) community of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the entire country in general, on 15 October 2008, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee issued Decision No. 4377/QĐ-UBND, recognising the "Revolutionary Tradition House of the Hoa People in Ho Chi Minh City" as a city-level historical site.

At the site of the secret base, the District 6 People’s Procuracy delegation had the opportunity to explore historical values through documents, images, displayed artefacts, and a guided presentation. This experience deepened their understanding and appreciation of the immense contributions made by previous generations who gave their lives for the nation’s independence, as well as the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among ethnic groups during the two resistance wars against the French and Americans.

They will forever remember the sacrifices of revolutionary heroes and martyrs. The younger generation of the District 6 People’s Procuracy today remains firmly committed to the ideals of the Party, with strong political will and ideology, determined to study hard and fulfil every assigned task to the best of their abilities.
