Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification with Parade to Start at 6:30 AM on 30 April
The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a master plan for the celebration, including a parade and various events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification (30 April 1975 – 30 April 2025).
According to the plan, the national-level ceremony will be jointly organised by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The programme will take place from 6:30 AM on 30 April on Le Duan Street, District 1, and other central streets of Ho Chi Minh City.
Main content of the celebration includes: an art programme, flag-raising ceremony, speeches from Party and State leaders, remarks from veteran representatives and the younger generation, military and civil parades, as well as balloon and dove releases.
The event will be broadcast live on VTV1 (Vietnam Television) and local TV and radio stations nationwide.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will host several key commemorative activities, such as:
- A flower and incense offering ceremony to honour fallen heroes at 8:00 AM on 29 April at multiple sites: the City Martyrs' Cemetery, Lac Canh Cemetery, Ben Duoc Memorial Temple, Cu Chi District Martyrs' Cemetery, the City's Policy Cemetery (Cu Chi District), and the National Historic Site of Nga Ba Giong (Hoc Mon District).
- Central-level ceremonies to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang will take place on the afternoon of 29 April. The city-level ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 AM on 29 April at the Ho Chi Minh Museum (HCM City branch), Ton Duc Thang Museum, the Statue Park of President Ho Chi Minh, and Nguyen Hue Street.
Additionally, HCM City will carry out gratitude activities for families of martyrs, those with meritorious service, veterans, youth volunteers, and individuals who participated in the 1975 Spring Offensive and Uprising.
Other activities include: a patriotic emulation movement; a city-level seminar on 50 years of development and protection of HCM City; a literary and artistic retrospective of the city post-1975; inauguration and groundbreaking of commemorative projects; research, creative writing, and publication of books and commemorative materials; and a wide range of events marking the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
An artistic fireworks display is scheduled for the evening of 30 April. On the same day at noon, the 37th HTV Cycling Cup 2025 with the theme "One Homeland, One Line" will also take place.
Several other events hosted by Ministries and Departments in collaboration with HCM City include:
- A national-level scientific seminar at 8:00 AM on 17 April
- The photo exhibition "Proud Homeland Borders" from 27 April
- The television bridge "Peace Anthem" at 8:00 PM on 5 April
- The outdoor art programme "The Nation’s Joy" at 8:10 PM on 20 April
- The national-level TV bridge "Echoes of Victory" at 8:10 PM on 27 April
- A special art performance at 8:10 PM on 29 April
- A military band performance on horseback with technical displays at 8:00 PM on 30 April.
Ho Chi Minh City will also launch various other events to mark and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
